Sources: - Bach's numerology
- Using the Latin alphabet, A=1, B=2, etc.
Since there is no J in this alphabet, J is represented by I, which equals 9. K=10, etc.
Thus BACH = 2 + 1 + 3 + 8 = 14
and J.S. BACH = 9 + 18 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 8 = 41
- The notation
shows Bach's musical signature.
The pitches are B-flat (in German notation, "B"), A, C, and B-natural (in German notation, "H").
Bach was fond of numerology, and he often incorporated numerological elements into his compositions.
- The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything

- Dr. Sevrin's teachings
- In the Star Trek episode "The Way to Eden," Dr. Sevrin is a brilliant (if somewhat insane) leader of a new philosophical sect. The philosophy of this group can be summed up in the statement, "One is the beginning."
"If you understand One, you know our purpose."
