[OSZ] The History of the Order

Z athras warn, this site may contain spoilers though the episode most recently broadcast in the United States.

First, there was the Great Machine on Epsilon III. We do not know who built it, or why. But we do know that the Great Machine has been useful in the cause of light. The Great Machine, however, needs caretakers. Among those called to be caretakers of the Great Machine are Zathras, his brothers, and unknown others.

During the year of the Shadow War, it was necessary to evacuate beings from Babylon 5 to Epsilon III. Is has been speculated that it was during this time that some nuns traveled to Epsilon III to assist with the injured, and while there they met Zathras. Impressed with the teachings of Zathras and the work of the Great Machine, they remained on Epsilon III, where they established the Order of the Sisters of Zathras.

This is speculation because unfortunately, during the tumult of war records were lost, and the original founders of the Order had apparently taken vows of silence. (The rumor is they were trying to provide an example for Zathras, who never seemed to get the hint.)

In short, the existence of the Order was not known until revealed in a CompuServe posting from JMS.

After observing a period of silence, meditation, and sleep deprivation, Sister norak responded to the call to re-establish the Order. Having received a mystical vision (induced through partaking the elixir of life, that is, tea), she posted a message to the rastb5m newsgroup, outlining the main principles of the Order.

The first to respond to the call was Sister Zathra Ladybug Lurker.
